Louise Beaton interviews Michael Dower
Louise Beaton ,who herself has had long association with the Rural Community Council movement and the establishment of ACRE talks, to Michael Dower about the early days including the role that Michael played as a guiding force in the establishment of ACRE and particularly the establishment of Rural Voice akin to the Rural Coalition we see today. He was a regular contributor as an academic to the Rural Life conference.
As Visiting Professor of European Rural Development at the University of Gloucestershire. He has a long career in civil society and in government in England. For the last 30 years, he has also been actively involved in rural affairs in Europe, as a consultant to governments, as a teacher, as an adviser, and as a leader of civil society movements.
David Emerson interviews David Clark
David Clark was the last Chief Rural Officer at the National Council for Voluntary Organisations NCVO and through that played a key role in the formation of ACRE and was for some time an advisor to ACRE. He was also David Emerson’s boss for a number of years at NCSS/NCVO. He is now active in research into rural communities and has played many roles over the years including senior positions within Local Government.
More recently he has become involved in the activities of the 100 Rural Years Centenary Group leading the work of the Rural Historians and particularly the collection of material that can be accessed electronically and used within a number of contexts including for research and within our website.
